Do’s and Don’ts of Tennis

Tennis can be a demanding sport if you don’t follow the proper pre match procedures and if you
don’t abide by the common rules and tennis etiquettes. so here are a few tennis do’s and don’ts:

Don’ts:

  1. Don’t wear the wrong attire as it could limit your performance and wearing the wrong
    shoes could potentially result in a foot or knee impairment.
    Example : A suit and tie is not really the best option to wear in a tennis court but a compression
    t-shirt, shorts and sports shoes are a much more reliable option!
  2. Don’t neglect a thorough warm up before practice or a match. Run through a few
    general pre match exercises to stretch those muscles. Practice light shadow tennis in order to
    warm up the body and get yourself into rhythm.
  3. Don’t keep yourself dehydrated because it is a tiring sport and you will need to
    conserve your stamina. Always keep a water bottle along with you to keep you hydrated
    throughout your practice or match.
  4. Don’t play your shots with your wrist or elbows as you will not be able to get the right
    amount of momentum behind your shots additionally it could also potentially cause injuries. You
    should instead play your shots using your shoulders.

Dos:

  1. Do keep the rally going, focus on making sure not to break the rhythm of the game.
    Move around while reserving your stamina. This helps you to put pressure on your opponent
    and keep you in the flow of the game.
  2. Do behave professionally during and after the game. Focus on the play rather than
    trash talking and unprofessionally intimidating your opponent.
  3. Do study your opponent by watching him play or practicing along with him before
    the match, this will allow you to get a hint of your opponent’s game plan and strategy.
  4. Do show appreciation to your parents who drove you to practice and have been
    supporting you whether you win or lose.
